Remembering Prince, Puer Aeternus

The Mysterious Gemini

Prince

I know (my?) heart is beating, my drummer tells me so
If U take your life 4 granted, your beating heart will go
So don’t sleep until you’re guilty, ‘cuz sinners all r we
There’s others doing far worse than us, so be glad that U r freeBe glad that U r free
Free 2 change your mind
Free 2 go most anywhere, anytime
Be glad that U r free
There’s many a man who’s not
Be glad 4 what U had baby, what you’ve got
Be glad 4 what you’ve got

PRINCE LYRICS – Free

 Gemini Sun, Scorpio Ascendant

Pisces Moon

A brilliant musician and performer, Prince will be greatly missed.  A powerhouse creative, he wrote and composed too many mesmerizing songs to note, and was always challenging himself artistically. From Purple Rain to Sign of the Times, to his latest experiments- (HITnRun Phase II),his imagination was always on the move, stretching the boundaries of musical possibility.

Not surprisingly, his Terpsichore was in Virgo, (a very balletic sign), as he was a true lover of dance. Shortly after Diamond’s and Pears was released,  after seeing the Joffrey Ballet, he was inspired to compose for  ballet, and ended up composing the music for “Billlboards”, one of the Joffrey Ballet’s  most memorable pieces.

His enthusiastic financial support of ballet should be well noted, as he made a generous donation to Harlem’s Uptown Dance Academy, a school that specializes in high quality ballet training for aspiring  African American ballerinas and danseurs. His collaboration with American Ballet Theater’s first African American principle dancer, Misty Copeland (a Virgo), also attest to his fascination with the ballerina mystique.

He was a Gemini (a musical coat of many colors), with a Scorpio ascendant and Pisces moon.  Yes. Prince was deep. Let his music move us over and over again, as  the stars intended~

Taurus has arrived!

Taurus

Slow and Steady Momentum

The Sun is now in Taurus, a time to build your resources, fine tune a strategy for long term success, and use your hard earned experience to take an intelligent risk.

TAURUS INSIGHTS

As a development of Aries, the sign of identity, Taurus strives to transform that identity into personal meaning.  A sense of ownership is key to this process.  As the zodiac’s first Earth sign, nature, and the body are idealized. Indeed, the body can be thought of as one’s most valuable possession. Perhaps this is why Taurus is the sign of the dancer. Modern dance diva Martha Graham was Taurus, as well as Royal Ballet legend Margot Fonteyn.  A natural instinct for physicality and grace likely comes from Venus, which rules Taurus. Think of a Taurus friend you have, and you’ll realize he or she probably has excellent taste in fashion, design, or cuisine, (especially fine wine).

Taurus is also the domain of vocal expression, as you can think of one’s voice as an extension of the body, (in theater , or poetry, or opera, for example). It’s no surprise  both Barbara Streisand and Adele are both Tuaureans. Both singers share a sensual,  soulful style that make for gloriously addictive listening.

Finally, Taurus is the  master builder who isn’t afraid to do what it takes in the moment to have a chance at long term wealth, beautifully attested by  Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg.  Methodical in nature, a Tuarus rarely makes a bad move, and has an uncanny knack for  tuning out distractions while staying in the moment. This gives them excellent decision making power. And yes, Taurus can also be quite the sex symbol, just take a look at George Clooney.  Need I say  more!?

The Sun’s yearly visit to Taurus will begin a cycle of material growth and comfort. You’ll make the most of it by thinking  like a master investor. Consciously build resources in one area of your life. Look at what’s already available to you (often our greatest assets are fright in front of us!) Last but not least, think about what you most value. Whether it be  time, health, stability, freedom, etc., as this will give you the power to make a big push that will land you in fresh territory. It is Spring, after all~

The Spirit of Aries~

Aries

The Resilient Initiator

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 19, the Sun will leave Aries, so hopefully you’ve made the most of it! One of greatest attributes of Aries is its innocent resilience. As the youngest sign of the zodiac, it doesn’t take defeat so seriously. The Aries dancer is the dancer who gets up right after a fall so quickly you can’t  help but wonder- was that a mistake, or part of the choreography? The fiery confidence of the steps will likely mesmerize you so that after the curtain goes down, all you will remember will be the greatest highlights.

Like the famed danseur Rudolph Nureyev, a virtuoso is what Aries is meant to be, no matter what fleeting circumstances may bring. Indeed, Aries is the master underdog who always wins in the end! Perhaps this is why I wasn’t surprised when I discovered the legendary poet Maya Angelou was an Aries. She did know why the caged bird sings~

You can capitalize on this spirit of resilience by embracing  the area of your life that feels most challenging. Confront it- like a ram, and you’ll awaken a strength that reflects a new, more powerful identity.
