Dancers, be careful of unattended past injuries because now they may come back to haunt you. I’ve probably mentioned this before, but it really can’t be repeated enough! Sometimes we just keep going and going and going when we are in pain. We think we can get through, and usually we do and can, but sometimes, many times, it just isn’t worth it…and we find out the hard way. So, on that note, if there’s any physical issue that in the least bit has been bothering you on a recurring basis, now is the time to get a diagnosis. Gather the facts from a professional. Take care of yourself.  When it comes to training and performing, focus on building your strength. It’s a good time for women to explore their masculine side and challenge themselves with some mens combinations…go for the double tours just for the fun of it. You may  be much stronger than you think!  Bodyworkers may hear of clients complaining of past injuries more than usual.  Remember, when people are in pain they aren’t their normal selves…if a client gets a little edgy with you, don’t take it personally.  Be attentive. Back track to the basics if you need to. This is not a good time to ‘push’ because you  could easily lead your client to injury even in the most supportive of environments. Being careful and detail oriented brings good results.

TWO SIDES OF THE DIFFERENT AQUARIAN COIN

Word has been going around for a while now that we are approaching the “Age of Aquarius”, but what does that really mean? Neptune has just moved out of Aquarius into Pisces last Friday, February 3rd…this introduces a whole new connection to all things “Neptunian” ie. spirituality, music, dance, the healing arts, mysticism, religion, pharmaceuticals, hydraulics…anything that is dreamy, idealistic, and allows us access to other planes of consciousness will undergo a significant shift from the experimental, erratic, ingenious Aquarius, to Neptune’s true home of Pisces, the sign that has ‘been through it all’, and ends up at the very end…back home. The essence of Pisces  is beautifully expressed by TS. Eliot’s famous lines: ‘We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time’. I think of Aquarius as that last step before reaching the final destination.

So, with this in mind, our current age of Pisces, moving into Aquarius, however long it takes,  is akin to a spiritual backtracking. Perhaps we are missing something important and are getting another chance to learn that one single thing that could change everything for humanity. The theories are endless. What is for sure is at some point this Earth will have actually arrived into a new Aquarian Age, and it’s  fun to ponder what this could mean for us now.

 I normally don’t think of Tom Brokaw and Ronald Reagan as being similar, yet when I learned they shared the same Aquarian birthday of February 6th, my mind opened up to the possibility…that they are in fact, reflections of similar ideals, expressed in very different ways. Aquarius is the sign of change, for the sake of evolution, to ‘save’ humanity. They intrinsically feel themselves as part of  a larger group, yet are driven to stand by their own beliefs at any cost. They truly are ‘for the people’,  although their vision of what ‘the people’ need may be drastically different because their values are so infused with individual passion from their own personal experiences.

 We all have a little Aquarius in us…that part that so passionately believes in something that we must share it…we must spread it across our friends, our community, our society, our nation, as if we were spreading our favorite jam across a slice of perfectly crisp dry toast… once the toast has been adorned with the jam, everything is perfectly edible and balanced, and we are free to enjoy.

Even though I’m not much of a news person, I personally am very fond of Tom Brokaw. There is something about him that strikes me as utterly genuine. I believe Reagan had a similar  gift…people just ‘liked’ him, perhaps without even knowing why. This is the power of Aquarius. I believe Aquarians are automatically hard-wired into a unique, meaningful reality…it’s up to the rest of us to decide if we want to s ride with them, or find the Aquarius in our own selves, and dare to go a different way, a way that although may isolate us, will surely be our very own and can lead us to the home we all share as an evolving human species~

Madonna’s Super Bowl performance marks a highlight  for her “Madonnaizm”.  Over 50 in age but certainly not in spirit or body~she seemed ageless in tonight’s performance. I’ve noticed hard North Node/Moon aspects spell out grand moments, especially with the public. Tonight, the religious fervor of the North Node in Sagittarius fired up the innocence and purity of  Madonna’s Virgo Moon…to be shared all across America, and beyond, within the span of  about 10 minutes.  Indeed,  Madonna’s tribute to her 90′s hit  ”Like  A Prayer” was the highlight of her show. So much power in so little time…yet it all seemed eternal when it was happening…like a prayer ~(pun intended).

Madonna’s performance tonight convinced me that she will always be ‘like a virgin’…youthful, pure, timeless, and devoted.

BREAKING THROUGH THE WEIRDNESS

I’ve broken a large jar of pumpkin butter and my favorite water-glass within the last two days. It seemed as if both the jar and glass literally jumped out of my hands! Every so often it seems I’ll go through an accidental ‘breaking’ phase. Once I break one glass, I can almost be certain within the next several days something else will break…this has been the pattern I’ve become conscious of as of late. These breaks have been quite intense, imagine a huge jar just busting loose! It took such a heavy fall I actually felt sorry for it! Lately I have been feeling the need to ‘bust loose’ more than usual. When the progressed Moon hits one’s natal Uranus, I think it’s important to be extra conscious of experiencing the moment…this way, if you fall, at least you know where you’re going and can brace yourself!

Mikael Baryshnikov is a lovely portrait of  Aquarius…inventive, adventurous…eager to change and experiment. This photo is a great visual metaphor of his going beyond the boundaries of not only classical ballet, but also Russia its self.   Aquarians are daring souls!  Of all the signs, they are the ones who are truly destined to experience the thrill of escape.  Thriving off of ‘breaking free’ from restrictions becomes a life mission for them. With today’s Aquarius event, the question arises, what does one do once freedom has arrived?  Spiritual philosopher Osho reminds us in his book, freedom, Courage to Be Yourself; there is a distinction between freedom ‘from’, and freedom ‘for’.  Also, notice that ‘be’  is capitalized. There is great importance to being yourself!  It can be quite a spectaculor, ongoing event!  Mercury’s  dance with Jupiter asks us: what can we make of our free minds?  How can we transform our freedom into comfort, pleasure, and security? Today’s cosmic energy unleashes the answers to move freely all around us. Keep your eyes and ears open for something new. Most of all, open your  mind as big as the belly of a whale… to a boundless reality that can hold the space to make sense of it all.
